 DECORATIVE MULCH

Decorative Mulch

The addition of decorative mulch not only beautifies but also helps to reduce weed infestation and conserve soil moisture. Bed mulching also serves to protect the base of young trees and shrubs. Dark, seasoned, premium hardwood mulch is used.

BED REDEFINITION
A spade shovel is used to create a consistent edge providing crisp contrast between decorative mulch and turf grass. This process also minimizes damage caused by spreading vegetation.

LABOR-SAVING MULCH
Mulching the soil around your plants will save you time and effort in the garden and reward you with healthier plants. In addition to discouraging weed growth, mulch protects roots from extreme temperature changes and helps retain soil moisture, thus cutting down on the time you must spend watering.

Helpful reminders when installing decorative mulch:

  • Never put mulch on the trunk or base of the plant; never bury the lower limbs of a shrub or tree.
  • Never get mulch above foundation area of house; on to brick or siding.
  • Clean up is the difference between a good and poor job, no mulch left lying in turf areas.
  • Distribute mulch evenly, not lumpy.
  • When mulching ground cover areas always blow off any mulch that is lying on leaves of the plants.
